The best ideas are simple. I love this underwater sculpture garden because it encourages “responsible tourism”. It is called The Silent Evolution. The actual sculptures are made from a material that attracts the growth of coral.
It is a striking vision to see a crowd of people standing on the bottom of the ocean.
I like that the viewer can experience the visual impact on many levels. You can gaze at the installation from a glass-bottom boat or snorkel down for a closer view, depending on how intimate you want to get. The photographs represent it beautifully, as well.
The artist, Jason deCaires Taylor, asks us to experience the significance of our relationship to our environment.
It’s an inventive way to replace some of our important natural resources. Maybe the beauty of his work can influence others to do the same.
