About Me

Image is invaluable to the way we communicate today. In public relations as well as visual communication, what we do or say is as visible as what we don’t.

I have dedicated the last six years to cultivating a career in public relations and photography by interning, freelancing, volunteering and schooling. I graduated May 2014 from the University of South Carolina with my Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, majoring in public relations and minoring in photography.

I returned to school to finish my bachelor degree after the birth of my daughter. My son arrived in the summer of my sophomore year. My time after that was divided between the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, McMaster College, ballet rehearsals, and backyard treasure hunts. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This blog features my writing and photo work. I have done documentary work with medium and large format film cameras. My best work came from a Bronica SLR. The photo darkroom is my zen place. I miss the smell of developer.

I have taken event photos for Columbia City Ballet, Sustainable Midlands, and Harvest Dinners in Columbia, SC. I have also started a series of portrait sessions called The Living Room Sessions with my partner and stylist Ashley Gunter. These are strictly portraits of women taken in one of our homes. It began as a way for me and Ashley to expand our portfolios. It is evolving into an intimate shared space where we and our models explore, experiment and share our stories.

People is what I shoot. People is what I love. Capturing their truth. Finding a way to dig out that nugget of who they really are and say, “See, this is the real heart of glamour!”

I love quirks and cowlicks. I like you just the way you are.

A fascination with people, a sense of humor and a high degree of professionalism are some of my tools. I am skilled with digital and film photography, Adobe Creative Suite and social media.
